Adults clash in violent brawl at under-14s football game in Galway

This is the horrific moment a brawl involving adults broke out at an under-14s football tournament in Galway.

The Cup Final match between Kilshavney United and Gort United kicked off at Eamonn Deacy park on Friday night – before it was interrupted by scenes of violence.

The game was brought to a halt prematurely when a group of people invaded the pitch following an on-field incident decision.

Video footage, seen by Galway Beo, shows people talking to players on the pitch before one of them walks towards the goal posts.

In the video, a group of three other people dressed in black emerge and walk onto the pitch, where they seemingly assault a man forcing him to the ground, after which they appear to headbutt and kick him.

There is shock among the young teenage players and other people associated with the match. The video shows some of them disperse while other attempt to intervene and stop the scrap.

The man who was tackled manages to stand up, before one of the group comes back and appears to swing a punch at him. The video then pans away from the scrap as team members walk away from the incident.

Another video, which seemingly carries on from the end of the first video, shows a man in black suspected of throwing the punch being escorted off the pitch. Shouting and screaming can be heard from the crowds in the stands as a whistle is blown repeatedly.

The camera then pans over to a brawl breaking out between the people dressed in black near the goalposts, who can be seen throwing punches at one another. People intervene and manage to break up the brawl before the clip ends.

Galway Beo has contacted gardai over the incident.
