Aer Lingus shares travel advice in advance of industrial action
Aer Lingus said on Wednesday, June 19 that it is currently assessing the impact of the industrial action served by the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA), including the work to rule which it has outlined to commence from June 26, 2024.
“This action will have a wholly unnecessary impact on customers who are travelling in the coming weeks, at what is peak holiday season for families,” Aer Lingus said in a statement on Wednesday, a week before the industrial action is set to begin.
“The nature of this industrial action will cause a significant impact on our flight schedules.
“However, our focus is on communicating directly with impacted customers when we can and notifying them of their options.
“We will also be communicating directly with third-party agents including travel agents and online agents. Passengers who booked through a third-party should contact their sales agents for any updates.”
The Irish airline added: “We will do everything we can to minimise the impact for customers.
“However, it is inevitable that there will be disruption as a result of this industrial action and we will communicate any changes, delays, or cancellations to impacted customers as soon as possible.
“Where there are cancellations, we will look to reaccommodate customers as quickly as possible and will work with other airlines, with partner airlines, and seek to hire-in aircraft for this purpose.
“The most up-to-date information on IALPA’s industrial action can be found on the ‘Travel Advisory’ on the Aer Lingus website at AerLingus.com.”
Aer Lingus has shared information on what to do in the event of flight delays or cancellations ahead of the planned IALPA industrial action.
Aer Lingus said on Wednesday: “In the unfortunate event of a disruption to your flight, for example a delay or cancellation, we’ll do our best to minimize the inconvenience.
“If you made your booking directly with Aer Lingus or on AerLingus.com and are impacted, we will contact you and advise you of your booking options.
“If you booked through a third-party (travel or online agent or another airline), we will notify the original sales agent of the change to your itinerary. To receive updates directly, please contact us to update your contact details.
“Please be aware that if your flight is significantly delayed and you choose to travel, you will not be entitled to a refund.”
Aer Lingus says that if a flight is canceled, passengers have three options: change their booking online, request a voucher for future travel, or request a cash refund.
