Aidan O’Brien lands sweet 16th Irish Derby success with Los Angeles

Trainer Aidan O’Brien won the Irish Derby for a remarkable 16th time as Los Angeles came out on top in the Dubai Duty Free-sponsored classic at the Curragh on Sunday.

The 13/8 shot finished third behind stablemate City of Troy in the English equivalent, but this time he turned the tables on Epsom runner-up Ambiente Friendly, with the James Fanshawe-trained 6/4 favourite having to settle for the bronze medal position on this occasion.
