Akron police searching for woman who broke into city golf course and stole from storage shed
A yet-to-be-identified woman broke into Mud Run Golf Course in Akron, Ohio, after trespassing at 3:30 a.m. last Wednesday. The Akron Police Department is asking for anonymous tips or to see if anyone out there can place the suspect.
The individual ultimately stole items from the storage shed but not before an attempted golf cart joyride. The police report stated that she initially “pried off the wheel lock on one of the golf carts” but was unable to get it started. Theb she went to the clubhouse and “tried the front and back doors.” Officers then confirmed that she made her way into the storage shed and left the grounds with several items.
This is not the first time that the Mud Run Golf Course has had an unfortunate run-in with the law. Back in 2022, vandals destroyed part of the sixth hole “knocking down a fence and digging ruts on the green.”
The ruined green had to be rebuilt after tens of thousands of dollars in damage. Mud Run is also a city-owned course, so the city of Akron had to foot the bill.
This isn’t as damaging to the course itself, but police released a statement on Facebook asking for any help if possible.
“If you have any information about this crime, or can identify the suspect, please contact Akron Police Detective Sgt. M. Joyner at 330-375-2464; the APD Tip Line at 330-375-2TIP; or the Summit County Crimestoppers, Inc. at 330-434-COPS (2677),” the Akron Police Department posted. “If you see the suspect, do not approach; call 911.”
