Alcaraz confident heading into Wimbledon final

“I’m coming into the final feeling great with a really high level of tennis, really high level of confidence, moving well. I am feeling confident enough to have a really good result on Sunday,” Alcaraz told the media in his post-match press conference.

“It’s always good to be in a final of a Grand Slam. Obviously it’s great to be back in a Wimbledon final. I’m really happy about it. I’m going to enjoy the final for sure.”

It’s going to be a really interesting one if I’m going to play against Djokovic for sure.

Alcaraz will face Djokovic next, the sixth clash between the two players. The Serb leads the head-to-head 3-2 but Alcaraz says he is ready for the challenge on Sunday.

“Last year it was a really difficult match. He put me in real trouble. But, I know how it’s going to feel playing against Djokovic. I’ve played few times in Grand Slams, final of Masters 1000, multiple times against him. I know what I have to do. I’m sure he knows what he has to do to beat me. It’s going to be a really interesting one if I’m going to play against Djokovic for sure. But I’m ready to take that challenge and I’m ready to do it well.” the Spaniard added.

“I’m trying not to think about that I’m the defending champion” – Alcaraz

While everybody is focused on the fact that Alcaraz is the defending champion, the Spaniard, himself, said he is not trying to focus too much on that.

“I’m trying not to think about that I’m the defending champion. I just go into every match thinking that obviously I have chances to lose. Every match, it’s a war. The opponent, they are going to put his best tennis to beat you. That’s obvious. I’m thinking that I have to be a good player on that match. I am thinking that I have to play my best tennis if I want to keep going. I try to be better every day, to get better, or yeah, to play a better tennis every match that I’m playing. It was kind of similar feelings comparing to last year.”
