Aldi Galway shop closing down for week as update issued over reason
A popular Aldi supermarket has announced it will be closing for seven days at some stage in the coming weeks to carry out works.
The Headford Road store had originally intended to shut its doors from 9pm on Sunday, July 7 until Monday, July 15 at 8am so that the store could facilitate alterations to the layout.
But Galway Beo has since learned that this will not go ahead with the week long closure being kicked down the road to a later and yet unconfirmed date.

A spokesman for Aldi told Galway Beo: “Due to a small delay to proceedings, the Aldi Headford Road store is not closing next week, week commencing 8 July for alterations.
He added: “The new closing down date is delayed and I do not have any more updates currently. We have removed all signage as of this afternoon that indicates we’re closing down next week.”
Meanwhile, a popular business in the west of Ireland has announced it will close over the coming weeks due to rising costs.
Forde’s 4D Off Licence in Ballyhaunis has been a mainstay in the town for more than two decades, but will soon close for good. This is due to what the business describes as “ever-increasing costs and low margins” which has made this part of the business unviable.
Tom Forde posted: “We wish to announce that 4D’s Off Licence will close over the coming weeks. To facilitate this closure 4D’s will be Open (Mon – Sat) till 6pm from Monday 1st July.”
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Staff and Suppliers for their support. A big thank you also to all our loyal customers who have supported us over the past 26 years.”
“With ever-increasing costs and low margins, this facet of our business is no longer viable. Our general business (Fordes Ltd) Household / Haberdashery Embroidery and Printing + Our School Uniforms are not affected by this announcement. We hope you will continue to support us. Thank You. “
