Alex Scott spotted for the first time since opening up about romance

Alex Scott showed off her casual street style on Sunday after being spotted for the first time since she opened up about her relationship with Jess Glynne. 

The 39-year-old former footballer donned a pair of baggy black jeans with large knee rips paired with a Nike sweatshirt featuring a statement chevron stripe.

The sports presenter accessorised with some sliders, a pair of black sunglasses and was carrying a large brown duffle bag with bold red straps. 

Alex was wearing small golden earrings and her brunette locks were lightly curled. 

The former footballer was reportedly stepping out with a friend near the ITV studios in London.

Alex recently revealed she kept her relationship with Jess Glynne a secret for more than a year because they both ‘knew their love was special’. 

The former footballer and her singer girlfriend, 34, made their public debut as a couple in March at the BRIT Awards by posing on the carpet together.

Alex explained how they wanted to protect themselves for as long as possible, she said: ‘It took us a while because we knew what we have is so special, so it has been about trying to protect that and keep that for us in such a way that it continues to be beautiful.’

She recalled a sweet early memory when they met for the first time and Alex admitted she didn’t know how to act which caused Jess to jokily say ‘Are you not going to put your arms around me?’. 

Alex shared that the awkward encounter is still something they laugh about now.

Alex told The Times that she was surprised their paths hadn’t crossed previously as they ran in similar circles across the entertainment industry.

She explained that everything happens for a reason, she said:  ‘I’m spiritual — it was meant to happen when it did, when I’m in a place where I’ve worked through so much and am ready to accept love into my life.’ 

Jess has historically kept her past relationships completely private but shortly after their relationship announcement she revealed that all the media attention had been positive which was a huge relief.

Earlier this year Jess told Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast that the pair of them were very happy together, Jess said: ‘The work that I’ve done on myself has actually settled me inside and it’s allowed me to enter a relationship where I feel very comfortable and I’m just me. I’m unapologetically me.

‘It has allowed me to be really happy in a new relationship. I think love is a really scary subject and it’s normally something I keep quite distant.

‘But it’s a nice thing to be able to embrace someone and a relationship that feels really genuinely good’.

Alex has publicly dated both men and women with her longest relationship being with Kelly Smith, former England football player. 

After the split in 2013 Alex admitted to being too wounded to go into another relationship immediately. 

Rumours of Alex and Jess dating started in summer 2023 after being seen together at multiple events, but never showing too much affection towards one another. 

Alex and Jess were first pictured sharing a passionate kiss together in November.

The pair went social media official in December by posting on Instagram after the BBC SPOTY Awards.

The pair then shared plenty of snaps of their time in Mexico in January. 

At the time, a friend told The Sun at the time: ‘Alex and Jess have been a slow burn and they didn’t want to rush things or go public too soon.

‘But they’re officially an item now and seem really happy. 

‘They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect of their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines.

‘It’s still early days for them, but they’ve met one another’s mates and everyone is super happy for them.’

Alex played for Arsenal Women and represented England for over 10 years before retiring in 2018.

She currently presents football news and has recently started a new role as presenter on KISS radio.
