The 2023 NFL season was one of comfortable constants.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs officially became a dynasty after earning the first repeat in two decades. Lamar Jackson returned to MVP-caliber form, establishing himself as the greatest dual-threat quarterback of all time. The San Francisco 49ers, once again, played deep into the winter and, once again, fell short in heartbreaking fashion at the final step.
The 2024 NFL season will mark the return of another familiar sight in the 21st century: Tom Brady at a pro football game. That’s right, folks, Tom Brady’s days as an announcer are on the horizon, with the future Hall of Famer set to call Fox’s opening marquee Week 1 game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns on September 8.
While I know some people might be tired of Brady after watching him dominate the league landscape for two decades, we have to hold out hope this will work out. He’ll be calling some of the biggest games every single week, and we really need him to bring fresh and unique insight that doesn’t become stale over time.
Color me optimistic, but given his extensive experience, I actually think Brady will be terrific in this new role.
Let’s examine Fox’s six new(ish) announcing teams for the 2024 NFL season as the network prepares for Brady’s introduction.

Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady

This is the biggest change of all. After backing up a Brinks Truck for Brady’s services, Fox is immediately giving the former legendary quarterback its top NFL color analyst role alongside lead play-by-play Burkhardt. Here’s hoping he’s more like John Madden than CBS’s Tony Romo. If you know, you know.

Joe Davis and Greg Olsen

After his demotion in favor of Brady, Olsen is staying with Fox for the time being instead of jumping ship to another network. He and Davis should make for an exceptional broadcast duo that could reasonably be seen as a “1A” pair.

Adam Amin and Mark Sanchez

Another new duo, Amin enters his fifth season as an NFL play-by-play announcer for Fox, this time with higher-profile assignments. The former journeyman quarterback Sanchez has also been promoted a step up as Amin’s partner.

Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma

The Albert and Vilma duo isn’t new to 2024, even if both have likely had bigger assignments in the past.

Kevin Kugler and Daryl Johnston

A former three-time Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys, Johnston has been with Fox for over two decades. Play-by-play Kevin Kugler will be his latest new partner.
