Congratulations to our Mixed Foursomes team who were victorious in their match against Gowran on Sunday. It was a tied match and the nominated pairing of Nicky Reville and Martina Gately had to go to a play-off where they secured the win.

At home were Brian Morris and Madge Murphy, and Gary Lynch and Mary O’Leary, while the away pairs were Nicky Reville and Martina Gately, and Richie Browne and Lily Rowe. Well done to all concerned.

Congratulations to our Challenge Trophy Team who had a super win against New Ross on Saturday on a scoreline of 55-49. The team featured Anne Dunne, Catherine Berney, Bernie Duffy, Martina Flynn, Kathleen Murphy, Liz Butler and Clodagh Williams.

Our Intermediate Foursomes team played a thrilling match in glorious summer sunshine against Courtown but, unfortunately, they came out on the wrong side of a 2.5 to 1.5 scoreline.

The home team was Louisa Boshoff, Therese Glasheen, Yvonne MacSweeney, Mary O’Leary and Mary Rice. The ladies who travelled were Elaine Bolger, Martina Gately, Osnat Manning, Elaine Mullen, Madge Murphy and Mary Walsh. The team managers were Tracy Rossiter and the lady Vice-Captain, Mary Robinson.

After another keenly-contested match, our Revive Active Ladies’ Fourball team went down to St. Helen’s on a scoreline of 3-1.

Representing the club at home were Triona Hogan, Helen Kinsella, Mag Mooney, Aisling O’Leary and Una Robinson. Those who played away were Margaret Atkinson, Elaine Bolger, Susan Kelly, Marguerite Murphy, Rachel O’Connor and Sheila Richardson.

We wish both Courtown and St. Helen’s all the best in their next round of matches.

We had a fabulous day for our annual Play in Pink, in aid of NBCRI (Breast Cancer Research), on Tuesday.

Both our main course and Burrow course featured this year as President John Howard organised a men’s Play in Pink competition for the Burrow course. Our competitions and raffle raised a super €2,200 for this cause.

Tuesday, June 11 will be Captain Paul’s prize to the ladies (GOY 5 medal), and the following Tuesday will be PGA Tankard (GOY 6), sponsored by our club professional Jamie O’Sullivan. Note that there will be prize-giving each of these evenings at 9 p.m., and all are encouraged to attend.
