Amanda Holden risks wrath of complaints in striking BGT final dress
Amanda Holden has risked Ofcom complaints once more with her daring Britain’s Got Talent outfit.
The ITV talent show judge was back to appear on the final of this year’s series. However, much attention was given to Amanda’s outfit choice as she headed out on stage. She appeared alongside her fellow judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon, but many viewers were distracted by her silver look.
Viewers rushed to social media to discuss Amanda’s latest look. Taking to X one fan penned: “Considering it’s a family show… Amanda Holden wears the most inappropriate outfits!!! #BGT.” Another added: “What’s Amanda nearly wearing?? #bgt” A third person said: “I hope Amanda Holden is ok – she is dressed for open-heart surgery #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”

Others teased the complaints Amanda might receive as one said: “Wonder how many complaints there will be about Amanda’s dress tonight? #BGT.” Another added: “Cue the few complaints about Amanda’s attire..” In 2020, Amanda received 235 Ofcom complaints for her plunging navy gown, which viewers slammed as being “too revealing” for a family programme. In 2017, a Julien MacDonald dress – costing a whopping £11,250 – also sparked fury with its low neckline. It attracted 663 Ofcom complaints – the most complained about TV moment that year.
Amanda has previously addressed complaints over her outfits. Discussing the backlash that she has received at times, she commented in an interview just last year: “It’s nothing, people have too much time on their hands.” Earlier this series, Amanda wore a ‘naked dress’ for the semi-final shows. Amanda also spoke about her style in an interview last month with Women’s Health magazine. Whilst promoting her collaboration with brand Lipsy, she said that she’s “lucky” to have opportunities to “wear sparkles and big old frocks”.
Britain’s Got Talent returned for its 17th season earlier this year, as acts made their way through the competition to reach tonight’s final. Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon have been giving their verdicts on acts from magicians to singers and dancers.
All week, acts have tried to secure their spot in Sunday’s final show as a semi-final took place every night this week. 10 acts made it through, which included singer Innocent Masuku, SSaulabi Performance Troupe, magician Jack Rhodes, dancers Haribow, singer Sydnie Christmas, musical impressionist Mike Woodhams, dancing duo Abigail and Afronitaaa, the Northants Sing Out choir, comedian Alex Mitchell and magician Trixy. There is also one more performer vying for the £250,000 prize – mystery wildcard The Trickstars.
Viewers have also been treated to a performance from the cast of Mamma Mia! The Musical, with the West End show currently featuring Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream winners Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley. The Britain’s Got Talent winner is crowned by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly and wins the huge cash prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance, which takes place on November 22nd at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
