Andy Murray spotted at Wimbledon as tennis hero ponders massive call on swansong

ANDY MURRAY has been working out at Wimbledon this afternoon as he leaves it to the last minute to make the call on what could be his big Wimbledon singles swansong.

The 37-year-old Scottish tennis legend’s dream of saying an emotional goodbye on Centre Court this summer looked OVER when he underwent surgery last week.

But his recovery from the back op has gone so well that he’s been able to hit balls on the practice courts.

His names was in Friday’s 10am draw – where he was paired with Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic.

It’s a tough match-up against a player who has beaten the Scot TWICE already this year.

Indeed the 23-year-old Czech was on the other side of the net when the Scot agonisingly injured an ankle before losing a hear-breaker in the third round of what was an emotional final run at the Miami Open back in March.

It remains to be seen what will unfold this week at SW19 but the two-time champ looked good as he did drills in the warm-up area before going to the practice courts.

That’s as he leaves it to the last possible minute before deciding whether or not to play at SW19.

Should Murray pull out of the singles there is still a chance he could play doubles with brother Jamie later next week to bring the curtain down on a glittering career at SW19.

He’s also hopeful of playing at the Olympics this summer – an event where he has been singles champion TWICE.

Speaking ahead of the draw, Murray said: “I’m trying everything I can to play, I’m practising on the court, I’m rehabbing and trying to accelerate this process to give myself a chance to play.

“And yeah I don’t feel guilty about it. It has been mentioned to me, are you going to withdraw before the draw at 10am on Friday? And I’m like, Well, no, I’m not.

“I’m going to wait until the last minute to see if I’m going to be able to and I’ve earned that right to do that.

“This is not clear cut where I am 100% going to be ready to play or there is a 0% chance that I can play. That is the situation.”
