Arrest after man dies in suspected assault in Co Kerry

A man has been arrested after another man died following a suspected assault in Co Kerry in the early hours of this morning.

An investigation is under way after emergency services responded to a report of a man, aged in his 40s, who was found unresponsive and with serious injuries outside a house at An Caisleán Mór in Castleisland at around 12.30am.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The offices of the State Pathologist has been informed and the man’s body remains at the scene.

A man in his 40s was arrested and is being held at a garda station in Co Kerry.

It is believed he was known to the deceased man.

The scene at An Caisleán Mór has been sealed off for a forensic examination.
