Arsenal withdraw from £110m transfer race as Kieran Tierney eyes dream exit
It is clear that Arsenal are targeting a striker signing as the summer transfer window is set to open next Friday.
However, the club must be more careful about their spending this time around after forking over £200million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber last year. After investing heavily in two midfielders and a defender, it is time to bolster the Gunners attack.
A number of strikers have been linked with a move to north London including Joshua Zirkzee, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen. With that said, football.london have rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip on Sunday, June 9.
Arsenal withdraw from Victor Osimhen race
Napoli star Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as Mikel Arteta is keen to add a striker to his squad this summer. Along with Sesko, Osimhen had been identified as a potential signing.
However, Sky Sports Italy (via Metro) claim that Arsenal have made it clear to Napoli they will not meet Osimhen’s £110million (€130m) release clause. While the Gunners hold the Napoli star in ‘high regard,’ they are unwilling to push ahead with a deal due to the high costs involved.

The report adds that Napoli are yet to receive concrete proposals which come near that figure, while Saudi Pro League clubs could afford such a hefty fee.
football.london says: To comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules, Sesko will be a better option financially, holding a £55m (€65m) release clause. With that said, Osimhen’s injury record could also be a concern. Since joining the Italian giants in 2020, the 25-year-old has sustained injuries throughout the last four seasons.
Kieran Tierney stance emerges
Kieran Tierney’s future at the Emirates Stadium remains unclear after returning from Real Sociedad. However, a report by Caught Offside claims that Tierney would ‘love’ to return to Celtic.
Arsenal are said to be ‘ready’ to listen to offers for the 26-year-old. Tierney has struggled to cement a place in Mikel Arteta’s side but rediscovered his form in Spain, making 14 starts in 19 appearances.
football.london says: It is no secret that Celtic is a place where Tierney excelled previously in his career. He has previously made it clear that there is ‘every chance’ he will leave Arsenal permanently this summer and it will be good business if the club manage to offload him. As it stands, Tierney is behind Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior for the left-back position.
