Ayr and Windsor horse racing tips from Tom Lunn for Monday

Batal Zabeel

Nice gelding trained by Kevin Ryan who had a great record as a two-year-old, close behind subsequent winners and finally winning his first at Beverley in August.

He was gelding in September before going on his winter break and clearly needed the run at Musselburgh.

As he then reappeared at Ripon just over a couple of weeks later, upped again to 6f and won by a head.

He didn’t really look like winning based on his running style so clearly if he’s learned from that and settles and focuses better, he should improve nicely.

He’s given a stone by the top-weight Dare To Hope despite only being 8lb off in the ratings due to the weight allowance for three-year-olds.

Bold Impact

Ralph Beckett trained two-year-old who has great form coming into this, with his debut run just three lengths off of Ancient Truth at Newmarket.

Ancient Truth has since gone on to win the Group 2 Superlative Stakes well as the odds-on favourite to extend his unbeaten run to three.

He started the early morning as 4/7 favourite but has drifted slightly, with a few debutants looking to pose a threat to the well-tipped and backed Bold Impact.

Hoodie Hoo is a two-year-old trained by Charlie Hills who has a 13% strike-rate with two-year-olds on turf over the last five years, but only an 8% rate this season.

Amphius

The two favourites have great form coming into this.

Amphius was behind Economics (subsequent Dante winner), Under Siege and Clove Hitch on debut, which has turned out well. Under Siege even features on this card at Windsor today as the heavy odds on favourite in the race before.

The Kingman colt was then second behind Indelible proving to be a great three-year-old having not ran as a two-year-old.

But he faces another great miler in Roi De France, who on debut back in November placed second close behind Accumulate (98-rated gelding who was a short head second at Ascot in May).

Roi De France was beaten as a heavy odds-on favourite last time out though, on reappearance this season but only by a short head to Westridge.

Amphius is drifting narrowly yet might well have the better form on paper narrowly and with William Buick on board, there’s always possibilities and it will be a great battle against Oisin Murphy on Roi De France.
