Baron Davis Still Feels Snubbed By Coach K

Turns out Gilbert Arenas is not the only guy who is nursing a grudge against former Duke and U.S. Olympic basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski. Baron Davis is not happy either.

Davis chose UCLA over Duke in 1997 and played two years for the Bruins. We remember hearing a story that happened around that time that we’re not going to get into but suffice it to say that it would certainly have dampened Duke’s interest in the talented young guard.

Or it might just have been that Coach K has an excellent understanding of what will work for him and like Arenas, who was quite angry that he wasn’t selected for Team USA, Davis just has an axe to grind.

Here’s a two-word refutation of Davis’s theory that K was a Davis hater: Harrison Barnes.

If Davis were correct that Coach K carried a grudge big enough to potentially make him cut a player who might have made his team better, how does he explain Barnes?

Not only did Barnes pick UNC over Duke, he did so live on video even as he had allegedly misled Duke about his intentions. That was the story at the time anyway.

Either way, if Krzyzewski was a small, petty man willing to damage his team so that he got the satisfaction of sticking it to Davis (or Arenas too for the matter), he would not have a 75-1 record in international play.

There may be some pettiness here but it’s not coming from the K Camp.
