Barry claims third win as Greaves makes history

Meath’s Keane Barry claimed his third Development Tour title of 2024 in Wigan on Friday afternoon.

The Duleek man, who will represent Ireland alongside Willie O’Connor at the World Cup of Darts next week, saw off Leighton Bennett in the quarter-final before averaging 104 in a semi-final victory over Wessel Nijman.

He beat Netherlands’ Angelo Balsamo 5-2 in the Event 12 decider to move top of the Development Tour order of merit.

Meanwhile, Beau Greaves (above) created another slice of history on as she became the first woman to win a Winmau Development Tour title.

The 20-year-old took centre stage on a landmark day at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, storming through a 250-player field to add a maiden Development Tour crown to her record haul of 23 PDC Women’s Series titles.

The Women’s World Matchplay champion clinched the Event 11 title in sensational style, conceding just five legs in eight matches and posting four ton-plus averages along the way.
