Basketball camp is available for residents of Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – In Bluefield, Virginia a college basketball coach is looking to help kids in the area hone-in their skills on the hardwood.

Bluefield University men’s basketball coach Richard Morgan says he’s put together a basketball camp set for July 8 through the 10. It is aimed at kids aged 6 through 13 who are looking to work on their basketball fundamentals and learn some new skills as well.

This is the first time this camp has been brought back since the covid-19 pandemic, and Morgan says he is excited to get back to work with the area’s younger generation.

“We got to make them understand coming in here, we feel like it’s important to help them with their skills, gain news skills, to work on over the summer.” He said. “They [kids] can take these skills with them to get better and make their team better. A lot of them haven’t made their team before, so we try to help them make the team.”

There will be two separate classes available with the boys starting at 9am and going until 1pm and the girls will start at 1:30 and go until 5:30.
