Basketball Ireland and TG4 have agreed a new two-year partnership
Basketball Ireland and TG4 have agreed a new two-year partnership, which will see 18 games broadcast on the station over the next two years. TG4 will be the home of Irish international basketball, with home and away fixtures in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers and FIBA Basketball World Cup European Pre-Qualifiers shown live.
The announcement was made in Dublin on Wednesday, 10th April, at the launch of ‘Super Sunday’, which will see TG4 broadcast the climax to the National League season on April 14th, with a double header featuring the MissQuote.ie Champions Trophy final (2pm tip off) between Pyrobel Killester and SETU Waterford Wildcats and the InsureMyVan.ie Super League Playoff final (4.30pm tip off), as Pyrobel Killester and Griffith College Éanna face off in a Dublin derby. TG4 will also broadcast the 2024/25 season National Cup finals and National League finals.

Basketball Ireland CEO, John Feehan, said: “We’re delighted to announce this broadcast partnership with TG4, it extends and strengthens the long-running relationship we have. TG4 have significantly grown their coverage of Irish basketball over the last number of years, both internationally and domestically, and we look forward to working side-by-side with them over the next two years, as we continue the upward trajectory of the sport.”
Rónán O’Coisdealbha, TG4 Head of Sport, added: “We’ve been on a wonderful journey with the Irish international basketball team since they returned to FIBA EuroBasket level in 2021 and this new two-year agreement rubberstamps our commitment to our men’s and women’s teams. TG4 has also been long-term broadcasters of the National Cup and we’re excited to show the National League finals once again, having broadcast them for the first time last season. Next week’s ‘Super Sunday’ double header promises to be an exciting afternoon of action at the National Basketball Arena.”
Ireland’s international sides return to action in November 2024, Ireland’s men face Azerbaijan and Kosovo and Ireland’s women take on Israel and Latvia. TG4’s ‘Super Sunday’ is live on air from 1.45pm on Sunday 14th April, presenter Darren Ó Dubhgain will be joined by analysts Mark Scannell, Eimear Martin, Paul Kelleher and Emmet Ryan.
