Bees ‘invade’ Galway estate ‘like scary film’ as video shows ‘apocalyptic’ swarm
A swarm of bees have ‘invaded’ a Galway estate this week as a video captures the moment a resident witnessed the ‘mind blowing’ event.
The insects descended on the Bun na Coille estate in Moycullen on Sunday afternoon and formed a large swarm around the area, leaving nearby residents terrified to open the window.
A video taken by a resident shows the estate flooded with seemingly hundreds of the insects swarming around in a loop.

Describing the scene, one resident said it was ‘apocalyptic’, that they had ‘never seen the likes of it’ before and it was ‘incredibly’ scary, like ‘something from an Alfred Hitchcock movie’.
A close-up of the swarm captured the size of the intense swarm as they hovered around the estate.
The swarm lasted around 45 minutes and according to the resident some locals ‘didn’t know what was happening’.
The resident who took the video, told Galway Beo: “A swarm of bees invaded the Bun na Coille estate in Moycullen on Sunday. It was incredibly scary and like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I have never seen the likes of it before. This happened at around 2.45pm on Sunday and the event lasted about 45 minutes . It was absolutely mind blowing. Some locals heard the noise but didn’t know what was happening, it apocalyptic-like”.
