Beloved Mayo postman retires after 43 years of dedicated service – news – Western People
After 43 years of dedicated service, the Westport Delivery Service Unit (DSU) of An Post announced the retirement of beloved postman, Joe Sheridan, Sandyhill.
Known affectionately to his colleagues as “Long Joe” for his towering presence and enduring commitment, Joe leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and camaraderie.
To commemorate his retirement, a large gathering of past and present postal operatives gathered to bid farewell to Joe and celebrate his many years of service. The outpouring of support and well-wishes is a testament to the impact that Joe has had on the Westport DSU community.
As Joe embarks on this new chapter in his life, the Westport DSU An Post extends its “heartfelt gratitude for his dedication, friendship, and unwavering commitment to the postal service.”
They added: “Joe’s legacy will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Joe joins fellow Mayo postman Sean McGing in retirement after Sean’s departure last week.
