BGT fans baffled as Bruno Tonioli’s brutally ‘booed’ by ITV audience

Bruno Tonioli appeared to be booed by the Britain’s Got Talent live audience on Tuesday evening whenever he voiced his opinions about the semi-final acts.

Fans could not work out if the former Strictly Come Dancing judge was being heckled, or whether members of the crowd were simply yelling out his name throughout the ITV programme.

Taking to X to comment on the apparent booing, one confused viewer wrote: “Am I wrong, or are the crowd booing Bruno every time he speaks no matter what he says? Does anyone know why??#BritainsGotTalent.”

A viewer called Jack noted: “Why is Bruno getting booed? #BritainsGotTalent.”

Ciara added: “Is Bruno just getting booed every time he speaks, even if it’s positive? He is irritating me but I didn’t notice this audience response last night. #BritainsGotTalent.”

“Can someone tell me why people are booing when Bruno talks?#britainsgottalent or is it something else?” Sian asked.

However, a fifth fan with a different perspective penned: “Everyone, Bruno is not getting booed – they’re chanting Bruno Bruno #BritainsGotTalent #bgt.”

Agreeing, Morgan insisted: “They’re chanting “Brunooo Brunooo” does sound like booing though.”

Bruno didn’t seem to notice any booing while he was speaking alongside the other judges, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell at the start of the episode.

When Alesha’s golden buzzer act Ravi’s Dream Team Choir sang a rendition of the Take That song The Greatest Day, Bruno got emotional while giving them a round of applause.

“You really are an inspiration to us all,” he began while addressing the choir. “It is in our power if we want to, to make each day a better day.

The 68-year-old star concluded: “Everything is possible, well done again.”

While he was speaking to the choir, members of the audience kept yelling out, but it was difficult to comprehend what they were trying to shout.

Bruno didn’t react to the shouting on the live ITV show, but had a serious expression on his face once he finished giving out his critique.

Britain’s Got Talent continues at 8pm tomorrow night on ITV1 and ITVX.
