Boone County announces Todd Humphrey as next boys basketball head coach
Boone County High School announced that Todd Humphrey is taking over as the Rebels’ boys basketball coach after three seasons as the girls coach.
Humphrey takes over for Nathan Browning, who took the boys head coaching job at Conner after Matt Otte stepped down. Last season, Browning was named the Ninth Region coach of the year after leading the Rebels to an 18-10 record one year after they went 5-20.
Last year’s team relied on its nine seniors. This winter will certainly be a challenge for Humphrey as he looks to replace 95 percent of the Rebels’ scoring output and 82 percent of their rebounding production. He is coming off a season in which the Lady Rebels were fifth in the state in rebounding. His record with the Lady Rebels was 16-68.
Before his tenure at Boone County, Humphrey coached at Holmes, Dixie Heights and Cooper. He played high school basketball at Holmes and collegiately at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.
