Boys basketball players play in Who’s Next Combine
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — High school basketball players from numerous states gathered at the Pentagon Sunday afternoon for the Sanford Sports Who’s Next Combine.
Nearly 100 kids from South Dakota and surrounding states partook in the four-hour event. They did several drills, working on ball handling, shooting, defense, and other aspects of the game. They showcased their skills for local college coaches and were able to see where they measure up against other kids in their age group.
“There’ll be some college coaches here, and you just get to compete against guys you usually don’t play with. And you have some fun, too,” Mitchell rising senior Markus Talley said.
“It’s really good because you get to do tons of drills and play some scrimmages with other kids that you don’t know. It’s just really cool because college coaches get to watch you and see how you do. It’s nice,” Viborg-Hurley rising senior Nick Hanson said.
There will be a girls combine held on Monday at the Pentagon.
