BREAKING: Up to 150 jobs to go at national company with Limerick operation
UP TO 150 people are facing redundancy at Three Ireland, which has a significant operation in Limerick.
The telecommunications company employs 500 people at its customer experience centre at the National Technology Park in Plassey.
It’s not clear how many of these job losses will impact Limerick, with a spokesperson for the firm saying the exact number and location of redundancies will be determined in due course.
It’s understood all redundancies sought will be on a compulsory basis.
“Prior to reaching this difficult decision, Three Ireland has implemented a number of measures in a bid to reduce operating costs. However, the business continues to experience commercial performance challenges, with lower earnings and margin growth year on year, as operating costs continue to increase. The measures announced today position the business on a stronger platform for the future, ensuring it can maintain its market leading position and will enable growth,” the Three Ireland spokesperson added.
Limerick Live understands staff in Plassey – which has operated for more than 20 years – were given the bad news at a briefing held by videolink this Thursday.
They were told staff would be informed after March 8, but did not disclose which departments would be impacted.
