Brian Dowling calls Doireann Garrihy ‘petty’ after their ‘funny’ chat

VIRGIN Media star Brian Dowling says himself and Doireann Garrihy have “more in common” than he realised after their “funny” chat.

The Six O’Clock Show host appeared on the most recent episode of Doireann’s podcast, Doireann and Friends.

Taking to Instagram after the episode debuted, Brian thanked his fans for the outpour of supportive messages he’s received.

During the episode, the 46-year-old talked about everything from the birth of his second child to his husband Arthur Gourounlian’s “s*** latte art”.

In a picture he shared from Doireann’s podcast studio, the Big Brother winner looked happier than ever as he grinned wide for the camera.

For the interview, he was dressed in a dark green bomber jacket that he paired with a plain black t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

While Doireann opted for a stunning sequined tropical themed blazer that she wore with a pair of stone washed denim jeans.

Brian captioned his post: “Thank you to those who have listened to my chat with @doireanngarrihy for her podcast Doireann and Friends.

“To those who have listened and messaged me, thank you all so much. Blu was 9 days old when we sat down and had this conversation. We @gourounlian were very much still in our Baby Blu Bubble.

“It was such a treat to be out of my pyjama. Doireann and I honestly laughed from start to finish and probably have a lot more in common than we realised especially when it comes to having a certain list and being SO PETTY.

“It’s a very open and honest conversation where we chat about everything and anything from Blu’s quick entrance into the world to trolling and maybe my dislike for Arthur’s latte art.”

Friends and fans raced to the presenter’s comment section to shower him in even more positive messages after the podcast.

Doireann Garrihy commented: “A ball was had. You are the entertainer and storyteller we all ADORE.”

Anna wrote: “Was a great episode, true and honest.. I hope ye get a dog soon and call it ‘Bailey’.”

Debroah suggested: “Loved it, you two should have a podcast together, great chemistry between you.”

Pauline said: “Super funny laugh out loud moments.”

On the podcast, the presenter spoke openly for the first time about the birth of his second daughter and disclosed the “heavy and dark” hate they have faced.

Doireann said: “The way people react to your story and your journey it has not been easy.”

TOUGH TIME

The 46-year-old agreed, as he added: “No, I find if I don’t laugh at it, I’ll cry, but I cried so much over the years… I don’t wanna cry anymore, I want to laugh.”

He then went on to admit that he feels the struggle in surrogacy isn’t isolated to gay couples, as over the years Brian has received messages from heterosexual followers who divulged their difficult surrogacy journey.

The dad-of-two explained: “People would message, ‘We used a sperm donor and no one knows, we haven’t told my family, my husband is infertile’, I think people really relate to that struggle of just wanting to have a family.

“I always think people think surrogacy is a gay issue, it’s not a gay issue, it’s a family issue, you have heterosexual couples who go through it, you have gay couples, women alone who go through it.”

The host said that being open in their journey through books and documentaries helps people, but also inspires nasty comments.

Brian said: “It’s like 10% horrible, but 90% so good, so lovely and so much respect. But, sometimes that 10% can be really heavy and dark.”

The two presenters agreed that generally it is easy to let the hate comments land like “water off a ducks back” but you can have days where you definitely “don’t need it”.
