Brian Dowling takes summer off from 98FM to be ‘full time Dad’ ahead of baby arrival
“I’m so looking forward to it. The guys here at 98FM have been so good. Normality will resume in September”
Brian and his husband Arthur Gourounlian are getting ready to welcome baby number two to their family, together with daughter, Blake.
Ahead of the impending arrival, Brian told listeners this morning that he’ll be taking a summer break from his show, which he hosts with Suzanne Kane, to spend time with his growing family.
“I am taking the summer off,” he announced. “I’ll be at home, full time Dad, with Blake and baby number two. I’m so looking forward to it. The guys here at 98FM have been so good. Normality will resume in September.”
The station also revealed that as Brian focuses on his new arrival, they have brought in TV personality and social media star, James Patrice to co-host the show with the experienced Suzanne over the summer.
Former Big Brother star Brian took the opportunity to wish James, who regularly covers for Brian’s hectic off-air schedule alongside Suzanne, the best of luck as he takes the hot seat later this month.
James said he was “absolutely buzzing to be joining the 98FM gang. It’s such a joy to be working alongside the sensational Suzanne Kane, not to mention an honour to be stepping into the fabulous shoes of Brian while he celebrates the latest addition to his gorgeous family,” James declared.
“98FM has always been my go-to for a bitta craic and some banger tunes and I can’t wait to add my own pzazz to proceedings.
“What’s more, I get to do it with a broadcasting maven and total legend. Suzanne and I have already had an absolute ball on the times I’ve filled in for Brian, so I can’t wait to see what we get up to five days a week. Summer in the city – it’s going to be fabulous.”
Dubliner Suzanne, who is one of the country’s most popular DJs and influencers, said she was excited for Brian, Arthur and Blake as they spend the summer welcoming the newest member of their family. “I’m delighted for Brian as he gets to spend quality time across the summer with his family,” she added.
“James Patrice has always been a brilliant addition to our 98FM family when he’s been in for Brian in the past and I can’t wait to spend a summer with him bringing good times to people’s ears. James brings huge energy and fun, the listeners love him, we always have the best time. Roll on the summer.”
98FM Managing Editor Pat Gill said it was an exciting time for Brian, Arthur and Blake, as he wished them all the best as they welcome a new arrival to their family.
“While Brian is away Dublin’s good times will continue all summer long as the wonderful James Patrice joins Suzanne Kane weekdays from 10am until Brian returns in September,” he said.
Suzanne Kane and James Patrice are on weekdays 10am-1pm on 98FM.
