Bridget Jones 4 filming chaos after star rushed to hospital with horror injury

THE new Bridget Jones film is in chaos after a major star was rushed to hospital after suffering a nasty injury.

Insiders said the incident meant that filming for Mad About The Boy has now had to be pushed back.

The accident, which happened away from the set of the new film, left one of the cast with a broken bone and it is not known when they will be able to return to filming.

It happened not long before the cast were due to descend on the posh Petersham Nurseries restaurant in Richmond, South West London, to shoot a garden party scene.

An insider said: “It’s a total disaster.”

Filming for the new instalment of the romantic comedy series has been taking place in the capital for weeks, with leading lady Renee Zellweger back as Bridget.

Leo Woodhall stars as her new love interest, with Hugh Grant reprising his role as Daniel Cleaver.

A source added: “This has all been so devastating for the entire cast and all the hardworking staff who were down to work.

“They’d been due to shoot some of the film’s most important scenes and then they suffered this setback after a really unfortunate accident.

“Filming for the scenes might not start again until at least July, so the schedule has taken a hit.

“They’ve got a tight window, especially with having to work around the busy diaries of A-listers. It’s a disaster.”

The Sun revealed the plot for Mad About The Boy back in April – telling how Renee, 55, will become a cougar as she sets her sights on 27-year-old hunk Leo’s character Rockstar.

She will lock lips with Leo – who starred in Netflix smash hit One Day – as he takes on the role of a London gardener.

Bridget will get to grips with the world of social media and dating apps as a single mum-of-two following the death of her husband Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth.

And her romance with Rockstar will spark a love triangle as Hugh will also be back on screens as her old flame Daniel.

The film is due for release in the US on Valentine’s Day next year.
