SOUTH BEND — For the second time in three years, Notre Dame football will have to rise early when it meets Navy on the East Coast this fall.

Kickoff will be at noon when the Irish face the Midshipmen on Oct. 26 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The 97th all-time meeting between the programs will be televised on either ABC or ESPN, per Thursday’s announcement.

In 2022, coach Marcus Freeman’s first full season at the helm, Notre Dame held off a second-half rally to claim a 35-32 win over Navy in Baltimore. That game also started at noon at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

The NFL’s New York Jets and New York Giants continue to share MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands.

Notre Dame faced Navy in Dublin, Ireland in the 2023 season opener, blasting the service academy 42-3 en route to a 10-3 record. Navy, in its first season under Brian Newberry, went on to go 5-7, its best record since an 11-2 campaign in 2019.

Under the lights: Notre Dame football releases kickoff schedule on NBC this fall

Since a 35-17 loss at the Meadowlands in 2010, Notre Dame is 11-1 against Navy with wins in the past six meetings. The Irish, who lead the all-time series 82-13-1, have claimed six of seven all-time meetings with Navy in the Meadowlands.

The 2024 Notre Dame schedule also includes trips to Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons) to face Georgia Tech on Oct. 19 and Yankee Stadium for the Shamrock Series game against Army on Nov. 23.

Kickoff times for the road games against Georgia Tech and USC (Nov. 30) will be announced during the season.

Notre Dame split a pair of noon starts in 2023, waiting out a lengthy lightning delay in a 45-24 win at N.C. State on Sept. 9 and falling 31-23 at Clemson on Nov. 4.

In 2022 an unranked Notre Dame squad toppled No. 16 Syracuse on the road at noon two days before Halloween. The final score in that one was 41-24.
