British television show Salvage Hunters features Laois antique store

A fascinating Laois shop will be seen by millions of television viewers this week.

British television programme Salvage Hunters will be airing an Ireland Special and it is visiting The Store Yard in Portlaoise.

The show will be exploring Ireland’s thriving antiques world. Presenter Drew Pritchard and his new buying partner Alister uncover treasures in showrooms and private homes across the country.

Drew and his team will visit David Keane at The Store Yard in Portlaoise in this episode, to be aired on Wednesday, July at 9pm.

David has expressed delight at the exposure.

“I am delighted and honoured to have welcomed Drew Pritchard to the Storeyard. For decades Drew has been a fantastic ambassador for sustainability and the antique and salvage industries.  The program will be wonderful to showcase the antique industry in Ireland.

“Salvage Hunters has 22 million viewers in 52 countries and it is fantastic for Ireland and Laois and Irish antique shops to be showcased to such a wide audience,” he said.

The Store Yard is a unique store in the Irish antique and architectural salvage market.

The vast shop covers more than 30,000 sq ft and is filled with a treasure trove of the best architectural salvage, period furniture and curated collections in the country, as well as garden furniture and vintage designer clothing and accessories, with a restaurant on site.

Laois owner David and his team have been trading successfully in Portlaoise since 2009, establishing a reputation as an expert in antiques with a particular interest in Irish vernacular furniture and architectural salvage.

The episode will be aired on the Quest television channel on Wednesday, July at 9pm, available afterwards online.
