Bryson DeChambeau’s relationship with Donald Trump after Joe Biden golf offer
After Donald Trump and Joe Biden went head-to-head in the first debate ahead of the U.S. Presidential election, Bryson DeChambeau – a Trump supporter – offered to host a golf showdown on YouTube
Bryson DeChambeau has proposed to host an extraordinary golf match between Donald Trump and Joe Biden amid his close bond with the contentious ex-President.
The first televised U. S. Presidential debate was aired on CNN this Thursday. The conversation took a personal turn when moderator Dana Bash brought up the ages of Trump and Biden – 78 and 81 respectively – and their potential age at the end of a second term in office.
Trump claimed that Biden had undergone cognitive tests before boasting about his own achievements, stating he had “won two club championships – not even senior – two regular club championships”. He added: “To do that, you have to be quite smart and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way and I do it. He doesn’t do it. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match – he can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”

Biden retaliated, leading to a squabble over their respective golf handicaps. This provided an opportunity for DeChambeau, the U.S. Open champion who has gained significant popularity on social media and YouTube.
He posted on X: “Let’s settle this whole handicap debate, I’ll host the golf match on my YouTube @realDonaldTrump @JoeBiden”.
DeChambeau enjoys a solid bond with Trump. He’s teamed up with Trump Golf, proudly displaying their logo on his golf bag, and celebrated his 2020 U.S. Open triumph at Trump National Golf Club Westchester, hosted by Trump’s son, Eric. The duo recently toasted to DeChambeau’s latest dramatic victory at Pinehurst No. 2, sipping wine from the U.S. Open trophy in New York.

Trump himself extended his congratulations to DeChambeau after his second major win. On his Truth Social platform, he posted: “Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open! He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied! Under massive pressure, he pulled off some of the greatest shots ever made, especially his spectacular sand save on the 18th Hole that gave him the Victory.
DeChambeau has previously hit the greens with Trump, playing alongside him and Dustin Johnson at the LIV Bedminster pro-am. The 30-year-old confessed he feels “very lucky to have a relationship” with the former president, adding: “He’s always been generous to me.”
The bond between Trump and DeChambeau has certainly caught the public’s eye. After the Capitol riot led to the PGA of America scrapping plans for the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump’s Bedminster course, a disappointed DeChambeau remarked: “It’s unfortunate and it is what it is and I understand it. This is a very tough time in this world right now and I won’t make a comment on any relationships that I have on that.”
While DeChambeau, known for his practice sessions at Trump Doral in Florida, may not be able to arrange a golf match between Trump and Biden, pulling off such a feat would no doubt boost his already impressive YouTube following of 788,000 subscribers.
