Bull trapped in overturned trailer in crash on busy Cork road
Gardaí and fire crews were faced with a tough job when they were called to the scene of a crash in Little Island yesterday evening – one of the vehicles involved was a flipped cattle trailer with a live bull stuck inside.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported so the main job for the emergency services was to help the trapped bovine out of the trailer as gently as possible after the collision, which also involved a jeep.
It was a tricky maneuver for the team as the trailer was completely turned over on to its side – luckily, the scared animal was okay and managed to stay standing after the crash.
Cork City Fire Brigade shared photos of the scene on X, saying: “Crews from Anglesea Street safely dealt with a Road Traffic Collision this evening in Little Island. A complex incident due to the presents of a live animal. Crews made the scene safe, reopened the road and ensured the safety of the animal with the use of our Rescue Tender.”
The road was temporarily closed while Gardaí and fire crews helped the trapped bull but they managed to set him free and reopen the road without any injuries occurring.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “The collision involving a jeep and trailer occurred at 5:20pm in the Little Island area and no injuries were reported. Enquiries are ongoing.”
