Cam Newton says Lamar Jackson is greatest dual threat in NFL history: ‘He’s got speed that I never had’

Newton cited Jackson’s big-play ability because of his speed as the difference and even put Michael Vick in a different category than himself.

“Lamar’s style is different than mine,” Newton said. “He’s got big plays, any play. He’s got speed that I never had. And he’s just a legend. And then, I played the game more powerful … I can run, but I’m going to probably get caught. Vick, Lamar, they ain’t getting caught.”

Vick currently holds the record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 6,109. Newton sits second with 5,631, followed by Russell Wilson at 5,307 and Jackson at 5,258. If Jackson hits his career average of 876 yards a season, he’d overtake Vick in 2024. Barring a catastrophic injury, Jackson will own the record within the next few seasons.

The Ravens QB, with 29 rushing scores, however, has a long way to go to sniff Newton’s record.
