Canadian tourist fighting for his life following vicious assault in Dublin

A Canadian tourist is fighting for his life in hospital after a brutal assault in Dublin city centre.

This Irish Mirror understands that the man, who is believed to be a tourist aged in his 40s, was attacked by two men who were not known to him in the early hours of Sunday morning.




The shocking attack occurred on Cathal Brugha Street, close to O’Connell Street, around 1am. The victim was left in a critical condition and was on Sunday evening understood to be fighting for his life in hospital.

Two suspects were apprehended by gardaí and are currently being questioned. In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the men, aged in their 20s and 30s, had been arrested following the discovery of the victim.

“Gardaí on patrol in the city centre were alerted to two incidents involving a number of individuals on Cathal Brugha Street and O’Connell Street Upper,” they said.

“Two suspects were identified and arrested near the scene. A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for serious injuries sustained in this incident.
