Cannabis worth €1.6m seized by gardai in west Dublin

Cannabis valued at around €1.6m has been seized by gardaí in Blanchardstown after a series of searches targeting organised crime.

A 42-year-old man was arrested during the operation yesterday and has been detained at a garda station in Dublin.

A car was stopped at around 6.30pm by officers attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau as part of Operation Tara.

A separate search was carried out at a business premises in Blanchardstown.

The 80kg of cannabis have been forwarded for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland.

Gardaí say that the investigations into the seizure are continuing.
