Cavan’s GAA, Camogie and LGFA agree to share facilities

Cavan GAA, Cavan LGFA and the Cavan Camogie Association have agreed a Memorandum of Agreement in relation to the usage of the county’s Centre of Excellence and facilities at Kingspan Breffni Park.

The three bodies governing GAA, ladies Gaelic football and camogie in Cavan signed the agreement on Friday, 24 May. It comes at a time when the issue of Gaelic games integration is on the agenda nationally, with the Camogie Association and LGFA to be fully integrated in to a new-look GAA by 2027.

Philip Wilson, the chairperson of Cavan LGFA, welcomed the agreement regarding facilities between his organisation and the county’s GAA and Camogie Associations.

“We are excited about the opportunities this agreement presents. Sharing facilities and resources will not only improve our training and match-day experiences but also build stronger relationships between our organisations, promoting unity and mutual support,” he said, while Cavan Camogie chairperson Shane Woods added that it was “a historic day for camogie” in the Ulster county.

Kieran Callaghan, chairperson of Cavan GAA, said that the Memorandum of Agreement, said Gaelic football, hurling and camogie would benefit from a collaborative approach surrounding the use of Kingspan Breffni Park and the nearby Polo Grounds Centre of Excellence.

“This agreement is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible environment for all our athletes,” he said.

“By working together with LGFA and the Camogie Association, we can ensure that our facilities are developed to their fullest potential, benefiting the entire GAA community in Cavan.”
