Celtics owner brings NBA trophy to Michael Rubin’s Hamptons 4th of July party, guests include new Mavs star Klay Thompson
One of the biggest stars to appear at Michael Rubin’s annual Fourth of July white party in the Hamptons on Thursday — where guests included Drake, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jay Z Beyonce — was the NBA championship trophy.
Spies said that Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck walked into the starry Bridgehampton mansion bash holding the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy after his squad crushed the Dallas Mavericks in the recent NBA Finals.
Said a spy, “It was the best thing when he walked in with the trophy.” But not everyone was a fan.
We hear that four-time NBA champ Klay Thompson — who just left the Warriors for on a three-year, $50 million contract with the Mavericks — joked when he saw the trophy at the beach bash, “I’d like to throw that f–king thing in the ocean!”
Also likely jealous at the party were NBA stars including Draymond Green, Devin Booker, James Harden, Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Durant, as well as Philadelphia 76ers owners Josh Harris, David Blitzer and David Adelman, whose team just signed Paul George.
Fanatics mogul and Philly booster Rubin was formerly a Sixers owner as well, who sold his stake to Adelman.
Tom Brady was hanging with his former Patriots boss Robert Kraft, and Rob Gronkowski also attended, and a source said the annual summer bash was Rubin’s “best yet.”
DiCaprio hit the scene with his old Hollywood pal Tobey Maguire, and Drake arrived late, we hear.
Mary J. Blige and Shaboozey were among the many performers at the party, we hear.
Food at the party was provided by legendary eatery Rao’s, as well as Brooklyn celebrity pizza spot Lucali, and Jay Z and Beyonce were seen sitting together having some slices “brought straight to them.”
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly attended together, and the pop rapper was overheard telling Rao’s owner Frank Pellegrino Jr. how he started his career at the Apollo Theater. (He won the famed venue’s amateur night in 2009.)
Artist George Condo — who created custom invitations to the white party — attended the bash, and even customized the special Nike and Cactus Jack shoes worn by Rubin and Travis Scott.
Rubin and Scott had collaborated on a limited edition series of Air Jordans just for guests of the party, and Condo then drew on Rubin and Scott’s pairs to make them even more rare.
One spy said that Emily Ratajkowski, known for her envelope-pushing outfits, was “dressed very conservatively.”
To celebrate Independence Day, the party also had a dramatic fireworks display on the water.
Also spotted at the star-studded affair: Derek Jeter, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, French Motntana, Quavo, Rubin’s designer girlfriend Camille Fishel, Sarah Staudinger and Ari Emanuel, Live Nation’s Michael Rapino, Tiffany Haddish, Square CEO Jack Dorsey, Diplo, Jake Paul, Camila Cabello, Gayle King, Don Lemon, Lil Baby, Joe Burrow, CC Sabathia, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, Endeavor’s Mark Shapiro, WWE president Nick Khan, model Winnie Harlow and NFL star CJ Stroud.
