Ciara Kelly: At Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour I witnessed a celebration of the rich, mad tapestry of highs and lows of young womanhood
In two weeks, Taylor Swift’s Dublin stop on her billion-dollar Eras Tour will all be over bar the shouting, and oh boy will there be shouting. The only sign it ever happened will be a few sequins blowing wistfully around The Aviva and — if the Lisbon gig I went to with my 22-year-old daughter is anything to go by — a lot of ringing in the ears. It was the loudest gig I’ve ever been to in my life, bar none.
Why Lisbon? Because it was easier and cheaper than Dublin to get tickets. We weren’t alone — half the plane and nearly all the apartment complex we stayed in was taken up by Swifties. Wherever she plays gets a huge cash injection into the local economy.
