Circle K buys nine Pelco forecourt and convenience stores

Forecourt retailer Circle K has agreed a deal to buy nine forecourt stations from convenience retail group Pelco.

Of the nine sites, seven are situated in Dublin with one each in Co Meath and Co Westmeath.

The seven Pelco stations are in Airside, Swords, Co Dublin; Balbriggan, Co Dublin; Newtown, Malahide Road in Dublin 17; Beaumont, Dublin 5; Rathfarnham in Dublin 14; Rolestown East in Co Dublin and Skerries in Co Dublin

The Co Meath site is in Batterstown and the Co Westmeath site is in Mullingar.

The acquisition is subject to approval from the CCPC.

Today’s deal will increase the number of Circle K company owned and operated stores from 168 to 177. Alongside its dealer partner network of 242 locations, the total number of Circle K locations in Ireland will stand at 419.

A total of 142 staff are employed at the Pelco operations being bought, all of whom will become employees of Circle K and will continue working at the nine locations.

This will bring Circle K’s total number of employees in Ireland to 2,574.

Circle K said the rebrand and integration of the nine stores will take place over the coming months with existing offerings at these locations such as deli, car wash and other facilities now set to be integrated into its overall product and service offering.

Circle K has been in the Irish market since 2016, with a total of €230m invested since that.

Ciara Foxton, Managing Director of Circle K Ireland, said today’s acquisition is a key part of its growth strategy and will significantly enhance our established and extensive convenience store and forecourt network.

“Every week, we welcome approximately 1.5 million customers to our stores, and this will now enable us to serve the needs of even more customers in Ireland, providing them with the quality products and services they come to expect when they visit Circle K,” she added.
