Classic Causeway is among 51 graded-stakes winners on tab

Classic Causeway, a Grade 1 winner in the Belmont Derby Invitational in July 2022 but winless in 10 starts since, returned to the work tab on Saturday for the first time since his last start, one of 51 graded stakes winners recording timed workouts at North American tracks.

The Ken McPeek-trained son of Giant’s Causeway, worked four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Churchill Downs on Saturday, the third-fastest of 126 moves at the distance. 

An earner of more than $1.5 million for owner Old Kentucky Home, the 5-year-old has amassed a record of 23: 4-3-3 since winning his debut on Sept. 4, 2021, at Saratoga. In his most recent race, he finished fourth behind Five Star General in a 1 1/16-mile allowance race on the dirt at Churchill Downs on May 27.
