Cornish summer jobs include cookout chef and adventure instructor
We are well and truly into the start of the summer season and those looking to work in one of the most beautiful parts of the country will be pleased to know there are a range of opportunities you can apply for. From roles at restaurants to adventure parks, and cafes to stunning gardens there’s plenty going across Cornwall.
We’ve taken a look at some of the jobs being advertised on Indeed and whether you’re an experienced barista, a housekeeper or an activity instructor – or have no experience at all – there might be something that’s right up your street. There’s even a job being a cookout chef where you can travel to different cafes and cook up some feasts.
Below is a list of some of the summer jobs up for grabs right now in Cornwall, with a good range of hours, industry types and pay grades too. All so you don’t have to go on the hunt. The following roles offer everything from flexible working hours to attractive staff discounts.

Cookout chef- Beach Box Cornwall
Location: Wadebridge
Description: The Beach Box will be doing cookouts featuring various cuisines at its cafes over the summer and it is looking for an experienced chef to join its team, who will be responsible for overseeing the cook outs at the various cafes. Some of the main responsibilities of the role include: preparing and cooking meals according to recipes and portion sizes, preparing food at the production kitchen at St Minver, cooking out at one of the cafes in North Cornwall, and collaborating with management to develop new menu items and specials.
Pay: £11.50 – £15 an hour
Team member – Warrens Bakery
Location: Newquay
Description: Warrens Bakery in Newquay has two part-time vacancies which would be perfect for students looking for summer work. As a team member, your duties will include: baking off products as required, advising and serving customers, processing payments, assisting customers with product knowledge, ensuring stock levels are well maintained, and promoting shop loyalty cards or special offers.
Pay: £11.44 an hour
Catering and retail assistants – Healeys Cyder Farm
Location: Truro
Description: As a retail assistant, you will host in the visitor centre, greeting customers and processing bookings through the admissions portal, deliver exceptional service of guided tastings through Healeys’ drinks range, and take groups around the farm through exclusive tours. As a catering assistant, you will accurately and efficiently take food and drink orders, run food and drink and clear tables and assist as a kitchen porter when required.
Pay: £8.60 – £12.20 an hour
Activity instructor- Hangloose Adventure
Location: Eden Project at St Austell
Description: Your roles and responsibilities will include: instructing on various activities, fitting and removing harnesses for customers, providing safety briefings regarding the strict standards and processes, coaching and assisting both adults and children prior to activities to ensure each person feels safe and enjoys their experience, and basic cleaning and maintenance of site. No formal qualifications are required as full training is provided, however any experience within the outdoors sector would be advantageous.
Pay: £11 – £11.75 an hour
Seasonal housekeeper- Macdonald’s Farm
Location: Padstow
Description: The role will involve changing over three B&B rooms and safari tents depending on bookings. Check out is 10:30am and check in is at 3pm, so the working hours will reflect around these times. The team is also looking for a front of house team member so this may suit a couple that wish to live onsite.
Pay: £10 – £12 an hour

Barista/bar staff/front of house- The Windjammer Café & Bar
Location: Falmouth
Description: The Windjammer is looking for people who are confident, chatty, love to serve and thrive in a busy environment. This is a temporary role for the summer but there is the opportunity to continue employment after the season ends. Experience in the hospitality sector is essential.
Pay: £8 – £11.44
Seasonal team member – The Cornish Bakery
Location: Fowey
Description: The Cornish Bakery is known for its award-winning pasties, buttery viennoiserie, cakes, bakes, tortilla and ethically sourced coffees, which are all freshly made and prepared daily. Some of the benefits of the role include opportunities to progress and discounted food and drink.
Pay: Up to £11.50 an hour
Hospitality supervisor- The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Location: St Austell
Description: Some of the main responsibilities of this role include: overseeing and supervising the front of house staff and maintaining the schedule for staff shifts, training, guiding and motivating the team, producing high quality hot drinks for visitors, maintaining the till and cash handling, spending time in all outlets to understand their operation, including Heligan Kitchen, Stewards House, BBQ, Takeaway, Play Meadow and Horsebox, and assisting with inventory, ordering, supplier relationships, and management of supplies.
Pay: £12.25 an hour
Seasonal front of house Staff- WAX group
Location: Newquay
Description: In this role, you will need to be knowledgeable on the food and drinks menu, be competent with carrying drinks tray and plates, comfortably handle your own section in the restaurant, be able to pour pints, make cocktails and work the bar, and be confident with using the point of sale system.
Pay: From £11 an hour
