Crash and medical emergency in city causes tram disruption – updates

Public transport disruption and diversions

A number of bus routes, as well as trams, are experiencing disruption following the road traffic incident that took place this afternoon. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said: “Due to the closure of Arkwright Street we have severe delays and diversions on Navy and Green [lines].

“Green 11 and Navy 48, 49 are diverting via Castle Boulevard and Wilford Street in both directions. Stops on Canal Street, Bridgway Centre and at Nottingham Station cannot be served.

“Navy 1, 3 and Green 5-11 are diverting via Canal Street and London Road in both directions, stops along Meadows Way and outside Nottingham Station cannot be served.” NET added: “Owing to a medical emergency following a road traffic incident, we currently have no service between Nottingham Station and Queens Walk/NG2.

“NCT Orange and Navy Line buses are accepting our tickets and passes.”

“Avoid the area”

Nottingham Travelwise has said in a statement: “Arkwright Street at the junction for Meadows Way is closed. Emergency services are on scene dealing with an RTC.

“Please avoid the area where possible and look to utilise alternative routes for your journey.” The incident was first reported just before noon.

Police cordon in place

A picture sent to Nottinghamshire Live by a witness shows a police cordon surrounding the junction of Arkwright Street and Meadows Way. Seven police cars and two ambulances are at the scene, with the ambulances and one police car located inside the cordon.

A red car and a two-wheeled vehicle on its side are also located within the cordon. Nottinghamshire Live has approached Nottinghamshire Police for comment.
