NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JULY 6

DIVISION ONE

Abergele (11) 100-9 Halkyn (4) 99-10

Gareth J Edwards claimed the final two wickets for no runs to deny Halkyn a victory they looked set to achieve at Pentre Mark Park.

Aiming for 101 to win, the visitors looked well set on 84-7 when key batsman and skipper Alex North was run out by Lalmon TV for 46.

Halkyn managed to add another 15 without loss to be 99-8, only for Edwards to dismiss their last two batsmen without further score.

Gele were put in and managed 100-9 off a reduced 38 overs, skipper Lewis Tolond 27, Ben Roberts bagging 3-18 for the Flintshire hopefuls, Muhammad Bajwa 2-15 and Gareth Thomas 2-17.

North dominated the Halkyn reply, but when he went with 17 still needed, it looked like curtains for the visitors only for a late rally to take them so close before Edwards’ double strike.

Abergele won the match by just one run and grabbed the points 11-4.

Edwards picked up 2-5 and Nathan Aldridge 2-20.

Bethesda (14) 86-3 Hawarden Park (1) 85-10

After bowling out Hawarden for just 85, Bethesda eased to 86-3 in 22.3 overs to seal a 14-1 points decision.

Invited to bat by the hosts, the Park innings lasted only 30 overs, Daniel Oshyer gathering 3-16 for the second-place Ogwen side, Andrew Day 2-12 and Ben Parker 2-23.

Skipper Carwyn L Williams then led the way with 40 not out as Pesda stormed to a seven-wicket triumph.

Brymbo 2nd XI (14) 114-2 Buckley (1) 126-4

James Claybrook impressed with bat and ball as Brymbo seconds enjoyed an eight-wicket win at home to Buckley.

In a match reduced in overs due to the weather, Bucks set 126-4 off 28, Danny Sprake 39, Rocco Franco 31, while Claybrook pocketed 4-23.

With further play lost, the Steelmen confronted a reduced target of 112 and got there for the loss of just two wickets, Joss Roberts scoring 38, Claybrook 29 and Jack Williams 23 no.

Northop 2nd XI (15) 237-4 Mold (0) 116-10

Leaders Northop seconds moved 22 points clear with a maximum reward beating of Mold.

Asked to bat, the hosts rattled up 237-4 off 40 overs, David Foulkes 71 not out, Elliot Colclough 43, Darren Williams 41 and Andrew Oates 32 not out.

Mold were blitzed away for just 116, Joe Griffiths 3-21, Charlie Collins 2-14, Darren Williams 2-21 and Oates 2-27.

Pontblyddyn (1) 76-10 Conwy (14) 157-6
