NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE T20 2024

Just three matches were played in the T20 competition today with a win apiece for Brymbo, Menai Bridge and Bangor.

The Brymbo v Bangor match ended up being the NWCL T20 final with the respective teams occupying the top two spots in the table.

Brymbo’s success means they finish first and progress to represent North Wales in the National T29.

Bangor (0) 121-9 (20) Brymbo (3) 122-2 (19.1)

An unbroken century stand for the third wicket between Connor Davies and Jason Underwood guided leaders Brymbo to a last-over victory at Ty Newydd.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Bangor chalked up 121-9 off their 20 overs, Franco Kasner top-scoring with 39 and sharing in an opening partnership of 51 with Smit Parekh (20).

Young talent Adam De Rycke returned fine figures for the Steelmen of 3-9 off three overs, Chris Taylor scooping 2-22.

In response, Brymbo reached 122-2 with five balls to spare, Davies an excellent 64 not out off 63 balls, including eight fours, and Underwood finishing unbeaten on 44.

Brymbo’s win means they finish top of the standings and advanced to the National T20 where they will represent North Wakes.

Menai Bridge (3) 118-2 (15) Gresford (0) 117-10 (20)

Tremendous figures of 4-12 from Gerallt Roberts helped Menai Bridge to a comfortable victory at home to Gresford.

The visitors won the toss and batted, being bowled out for 117 in their 20 overs, Joe Benson 42, Chris Ellwood 24 and Chris Mullock 23, Roberts the best of the hosts’ attack, while Blade Crane took 2-13 and David Owen 2-20.

Bridge eased to 118-2 off 15, Jack Gower 33 and Callum Heath 22 no, Patrick Richards grabbing 2-19 for the visitors.

Bangor (3) 147-7 (20) Gresford (0) 106-6 (20)

Robbie Marshall produced a match-winning innings for Bangor

Captain Robbie Marshall supplied a crucial and dynamic knock of 48 in Bangor’s home success over Gresford.

On a mixed day for the Citizens, they ensured at least one win at the expense of their Wrexham-area visitors.

Opting to bat, Bangor registered 147-7 off 20, Marshall’s whirlwind effort come off just 27 balls and including three fours and four big sixes.

Wicket-keeper Cian Williamd added 23 not out and Smit Parekh 20. Chris Ellwood collected 3-21 and Owain Walker 2-23 for the travellers.

Gresford’s response ended on 106-6, opener Ellwood 40 and Toby Bellis 20 not out, Parekh 3-22 and Idrees Ijaz 2-26 for the hosts.
