Cricket World Cup kicks off in New York
The men’s T-20 Cricket World Cup is now underway, and several matches featuring prominent international teams will soon be played just outside the five boroughs.
Cricket has a reputation for matches that go on for days, but this tournament features T-20 cricket: an abbreviated format with matches designed to last around three hours.
As part of a joint hosting arrangement between the West Indies and the United States, eight matches are set to be played in Nassau County.
A temporary venue has been erected at Eisenhower Park, where South Africa will take on Sri Lanka Monday morning.
