Declan Donnelly makes jibe at Simon Cowell’s appearance

Declan Donnelly made a cheeky jibe at Simon Cowell as he joked the judge has had ‘some work done’ during Friday’s semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Hosting duo Ant and Dec, both 48, were just introducing the next contestant – magician Trixy as they stood next to the judges panel.

Introducing him, Dec said: ‘Next stop is a magician whose audition featured an old car who belonged to Simon Cowell back in the 1990s.

Ant added: ‘Your face when you saw that beautiful car!’

Dec replied: ‘Of course it had a lot of work done since the 1990s,’ to which Ant quipped: ‘The car?’ and his co-host promptly replied laughing: ‘If you like!’

Even head judge Simon, 64, was left in stitches at the joke, with the two presenters struggling to contain their laugh.

Despite the cheeky joke, the music mogul has previously denied having a face lift, but admitted he is a fan of having Botox and fillers.

Simon previously told The Mirror last year: ‘I mean it just makes me laugh — I haven’t had a facelift or anything.

‘Over the years people have said that I’ve had everything done. I have had a bit of Botox or whatever but kind of nothing drastic.’

Simon has previously revealed that his son Eric has poked fun at his appearance which made his realise he had ‘gone too far.’

‘There was a stage where I might have gone a bit too far. I saw a picture of me from ‘before’ the other day, and didn’t recognise it as me first of all. Eric was in hysterics. Enough was enough. There is no filler in my face at all now. Zero,’ he told The Sun.

Back in 2008, Simon said Botox was very common in the entertainment industry, he said: ‘To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works, you do it once a year – who cares?’

In 2019, Simon admitted to having a ’21st-century face lift’ and ‘too much Botox’ before his 60th birthday.

He gave himself a huge makeover and said the procedure ‘hurt like hell’ as he revealed other methods he has turned to.

He said: ‘There’s lots of things you can do now. You don’t just have to stuff your face with filler and Botox. It hurts like hell but it gets rid of sun damage and unplugs all the crap.’

More recently, the music mogul said: ‘I also had a sheep placenta facial once, which was quite out there’.

‘Then Sinitta recommended I try another detoxifying machine, and this thing turned up in my bedroom and it was like something out of Dr Who. It was like a spaceship had landed in my bedroom.’

Simon has also noted he takes his vitamins daily and exercises regularly, he added: ‘I work out three or four times a week, I have Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions – if you believe that these things work, you will feel better.’

Last year, Simon proved that he doesn’t mind poking fun at his own expense after making a dig about his changing face on Britain’s Got Talent.

During one of the talent competition’s live shows he played up to the wagging tongues and passed a cheeky comment about his face.

The surprising swipe came after one hopeful, Tom Crosbie, impressed the judges by creating Bruno Tonioli‘s face from a Rubik’s Cubes.

While the finished result was being shown to the panel, Amanda Holden, 52, seized the opportunity to crack a joke about Bruno, 67, and pointed out: ‘Well, he’s got the orange [face] right!’

‘How the hell do you do that?’ a totally baffled Simon asked, while the artist responded: ‘Practice…turns out you have a really difficult face to make out of Rubik’s Cubes.’

It was at that point that Simon quipped: ‘I’ll change my face…again.’

He has also been showing off his much slimmer figure after dropping three stone and wearing a surgical back brace, as of late, to aid his recovery after nearly being paralysed in a bike accident in 2020.

The businessman broke his back in 2020 in a fall from an electric bike he was testing at his home in Malibu, California. He had six hours of surgery. There was another setback after he fell from his bike again a year later.

The former X Factor star has since shed three stone after overhauling his diet and lifestyle to help with his recovery.
