Discovery of ‘hand’ at Welsh golf club leads to police investigation
Golfers at a golf club in Wales were left stunned last week when one of their members stumbled upon what he believed to be the remains of a human hand on the course. The discovery was made on Friday, tucked away in a rabbit hole near the 9th hole of Tenby Golf Club in Pembrokeshire.
The golfer who found the suspected remains, informed the management of the club, who then contacted the police. The vicinity around the 9th hole was sealed off by officers from Dyfed-Powys Police, who forwarded images of the remains to their headquarters for specialised analysis, reports WalesOnline.
There was apprehension among the club’s members and staff that the skeletal remains could indeed be human, as they bore a striking resemblance to a person’s hand. However, despite initial tests proving inconclusive, crime scene investigators later confirmed that the bones were not human.

According to a spokesperson for Tenby Golf Club: “Last Friday (July 5), an ordinary round of golf took a startling turn when a club member discovered what appeared to be a skeletal human hand near the 9th hole on Tenby Golf Course. The shocking find, nestled in a rabbit hole, prompted immediate action and concern among the staff.
“After several tense hours of meticulous investigation, it was determined to be from an animal of an unknown species. This revelation brought a wave of relief to the golf club, as the discovery of human remains could have necessitated extensive and disruptive excavation of the fairway.”
Club members and staff expressed their relief and curiosity over the unusual find, which has become the talk of the club. Golf manager David Hancock said: “It’s not every day you come across something like this on a golf course. It certainly added a bit of excitement and mystery to our usual routine.”
While tests confirmed that the bones were not human, what exactly they once belonged to remains something of a mystery, as the image taken at the club does seem to closely resemble a human hand. Dyfed-Powys Police has been asked to comment further on the find.
