Djokovic’s presence at the Olympic Games confirmed by Serbian Olympic Committee
“Novak Djokovic and Dusan Lajovic meet the conditions relating to the ATP ranking and have confirmed their participation in the Olympic Games,” said a statement from the Serbian Olympic Committee.
It is still difficult to know if the world No 1 will also play doubles, or whether he will indeed recover in time to plat. It is clear that the Serb’s progress in his rehabilitation over the next few weeks will be crucial.
It would be the Serb’s fifth participation in the Olympic Games, with a Bronze medal being his best showing.
Djokovic has made no secret of the fact that winning Olympic Gold remains the biggest priority for him and the one big title he has yet to win.
He looks set to miss Wimbledon, as the timeframe for recovery is too small for him, although he has yet to make any formal announcement about this. An official update should come in the coming days.
