Dozens of homes in Meath left without water following ‘major burst’

The incident in the greater Duleek area resulted in Uisce Éireann personnel being dispatched to the area in a bid to restore supplies.

Alongside Duleek, a string of other localities have been impacted, including: Donore, Roughgrange, Corballis, Carranstown, Downestown, Gilltown, Drumman, Lougher, Garballagh, Knockisland, Knockcommon, Rossnaree and surrounding areas.

A spokesperson for the national water utility said outdoor workers had been present since early this morning (Monday) in an attempt to rectify a “major burst” in the area.

“Uisce Éireann crews are on site this morning repairing the main and it’s expected works will be completed this evening,” said the spokesperson.

“Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe assured customers that every effort was being made to restore water as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while the repair works are ongoing,” he said.
