Dream 34 basketball team preps for The Basketball Tournament
SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — There was a lot of excitement at the Dream 34 basketball franchise training camp, a valued part of the Wendell Scott Foundation.
The team is composed of players from the region, and even a few international athletes. Last season, the team made it all the way to the second round of the Syracuse Regional.
This year third year general manager and head coach Reginald Jefferies is ready for his team to take that next step in the tournament.
“Last year, we had some immediate success,” shares Reginald Jeffries, Dream 34 General Manager. “With last year’s team only having 48 hours to compose a 12-man roster, make it to Syracuse, New York, then play against a division one alumni-based team in the University of Massachusetts. What we were able to do was something very similar to what Wendell Scott did that would be the underdog and come out on top.”
The Dream 34 basketball team will play in a basketball tournament on July 19th at 1 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio.
