Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Irish Rail announced the news to their followers.

They tweeted: “Take a Book Leave a Book.

“We are encouraging all of our passengers at Pearse Street Station to take a book and leave one in return for their fellow rail users”.

This will allow those who enjoy reading while commuting to discover a new range of books, while giving them a handy place to leave theirs if they finish it on the train.

And even better, you can choose a new book to take on the train with you to start reading on your journey.

The picture shows the book shelf with a number of books on it, located by the filtered drinking water station.

It comes as passengers will have to wait another week to find out the results of the Aer Lingus pilot vote after over 500 flights were cancelled.

Some 80,000 passengers have already been impacted by cancellations that have hit the strike-embattled airline.

Now, its expected that a further wave of flights will be cancelled.

The pilots ballot could end the pay row that has been going on during the peak holiday season.

Aer Lingus pilots rep warns of industrial action escalation if latest talks between fail

In a move that seriously increased the likelihood of a resolution to the ongoing pay dispute, Aer Lingus accepted a Labour Court recommendation to increase pilots’ pay by 17.75 per cent.

The recommendation of the Labour Court must now also be considered by the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association.

The IALPA executive committee met last night, and it’s understood that a final decision was not reached.

This may lead to thousands more cancellations as industrial action is set to continue until the outcome of the ballot on the new Labour Court pay proposal is revealed, IALPA president Captain Mark Tighe confirmed.

But the union said it would not be issuing a recommendation to its members at this time and has contacted the Labour Court to confirm its understanding of some elements of the recommendation.

Speaking after the meeting, Captain Mark Tighe said there were a number of questions raised by members over the understanding of the Labour Court document.

He said: “All I can say is that their decision to accept it or not will depend on the reply from the Labour Court”.

He confirmed that there will be another meeting of executives to make a formal decision following a series of information meetings that will take place over five days, and an electronic ballot over three days.
